We feel it is always good to give back to the communities and have always as a family done so throughout the year whether it be donating gifts to needy families at Christmas time or donating baskets to cancer foundations and the like. When we were asked to participate in the seniors meals on wheels chocoLArt event we jumped at the chance. We thought what a great cause and a great way to get our business in the lime light! The ChocoLArt event 2010 for Seniors Meals on wheels was our first Chocolate tasting event, which featured great chocolateirs, and artists. We had a great day, it was fun and for a great cause. If there is one thing people love it is chocolate and tasting lots of it! Now we are hooked! See the awards 2 page for more photos. Got a chocolate event coming? CAll US!!
At ChocoLArt 2010 we served a plain, and a raspberry flavored Cheesecake ball ( that is what it was called at the time). A mound of cheesecake dipped in a bath of milk, dark or white chocolate. You could see the happiness when people were eating it. We also served our chocolate popcorn. Plain popcorn, popped with just a bit of oil then drizzled wtih milk and white chocolates. Last we served one of our top sellers sea salt mixed nut bark. A sweet/salty treat, which consists of milk chocolate, almonds, cashews, & macadamia nuts, drizzled with a white chocolate wave and sprinkled with sea salt. We really didint think about awards, much but to our surprise we won the Peoples Choice award. I for one was shocked. I watched people all afternoon taste, smile, come back for more and thought to myself this is good, but the award was just as pleasing!
ChocoLArt 2011 grew with even more great chocolatiers! Amazing deserts, and table scapes! A fun and rewarding afternoon. Thank you Connie, Roger, from Seniors Meals on wheels, and Brian & Harry from channel 6 news! Below our table being showcased on the front page of Sun Journal news paper isn't so bad either! Thank you Daryn. We served a dark dipped strawberry stuffed with cheesecake, and our famous raspberry needhams.
Chocolate Lovers Fling 2011
1st place in the Candy/Fudge category with our Sea Salt Nut bar ( in the shop it is sea salt nut Bark) click photo to enlarge.

River is completely edible made from rice krispy treats, fondant, and chocolate. I even made edible dots to make the walk way on edible white chocolate paper, hard candy mushrooms, gumdrops, gummi bears, and yes a solid chocolate boat and umberella! This was such a fun event, disapointing we didnt see but only a couple Willy Wonka themed tables.

Yes even the tea sets were edible!

What did it take to prepare our 2 items?? 3 complete days of baking, scooping, rolling, placing sticks, freezing, dipping, stirring, sorting and pounding nuts, bar making, salt sprinkling, counting, packing, along with 10 chocolate cakes, 3 jars of jam, 1 batch of special frosting, 850 lollipop sticks, 20 lbs of dark chocolate, 6 cans of nuts, a cup of sea salt and about 20 lbs of milk chocolate. PHEW
We brought raspberry chocolate cake bombs, dipped in a dark chocolate, and 1 of our top sellers milk chocolate sea salt nut bark made into bars to go along with the Willy Wonka theme.
A great freind of mine turned me onto The Chocolate Lovers Fling which supports the Sexual Assualt Crisis Center in Portland. She had been trying to get to it for years, though still out for her for 2010 we decided to go! Taking once again our cheesecake, and our popcorn we would need to be prepared for 1000 guests! Unlike the quiet laid back Seniors event this one was overwhelming with a stream of people surrounding the huge ballroom in the Marriot. My freind MaryAnn on one side with trays of popcorn, Corrie in the middle ready to replenish, myself on the other end with Cheesecake we were ready! Again watching people smile at the taste of our product we were happy yet again, our product is good and another great cause supported. Award time came and I hadn't thought much about it except god I dont want to have to go on stage in front of this room full of a million people. But fate would have it we won Best Cheesecake!
When an email came through for the Chocolat event in Lewiston at the Green Ladle I jumped in again!
Green Ladle

Run by many I guess but Katie Langouri was my go to gal and wow she does and did an amazing job with this event. She was so helpful and just a sweetie! We served raspberry cheesecake bombs, and a new peanut butter cake ball. Which is a chocolate cake mixed with a special peanut butter chocolate filling, dipped in a homemade ( not your store bought peanut butter chocolate wafers) peanut butter chocolate, and drizzled with a peanut butter chocolate! Yea a peanut butter lovers treat! 2nd place in the Candy is Dandy category was simply satisfying with all the great chocolatiers participating!!!
